Grasshopper Oboe Reeds are designed for early learners from first blow up to 15 mo. and are best in their categories. They are light and responsive without sacrificing tone and pitch. Aperture (reed opening) management is essential to reed performance for young players and I match size with the right strength and structure to give reeds a longer lifespan. I use blanks/partially finished reeds from my entire high end inventory whenever possible. When I don't have what I need for this specialized reed in stock, I work with outsourced profiled cane that I mount and finish. This back-up option gets excellent results and is a more reliable path to achieving the right results without additional sorts. Either way, your reed is mounted on a professional Chiarugi staple for best results. As with all oboe reeds, individual results may vary.
